Sim dollars
From Derbyfever.com Wiki
Sim dollars or Sim $ are a major form of currency in the Sim along with credits and breeding points. Sim dollars are required for claiming horses, are used to pay travel or shipping expenses, and are used to buy and sell horses in the weekly Sim auction. Sim dollars are earned by finishing in the money in races, from selling a horse at auction, or from having a horse get claimed from you. New stables start out with 25,000 sim dollars.
Purses
Each race has a purse, which is the amount of money to be distributed to the winning horses. Purses can range from a few thousand to millions of sim dollars for the top graded stakes races. The percent of the total purse earned depends upon finishing position in the race:
| Finish | Amount earned |
| 1st place | 60% |
| 2nd place | 25% |
| 3rd place | 8% |
| 4th place | 5% |
| 5th place | 2% |
No sim dollars are awarded to horses that finish worse than 5th. If a race runs with only four entrants, the money ordinarily distributed for fifth place is retained by the sim, and is not redistributed to the four runners.
